Transbefrienders
Empowering Transgender and Gender-Diverse Youths in Singapore
What is Gender Dysphoria?
"Gender dysphoria refers to a psychological distress that results from an incongruence between one’s sex assigned at birth and one’s gender identity."
- Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR), American Psychiatric Association.

This sense of unease or dissatisfaction could lead to depression and anxiety and have a harmful impact on daily life if left untreated. Gender dysphoria affects people of all ages and it usually intensifies after puberty.
However, not all transgender or gender-diverse people experience gender dysphoria (psychological distress), despite the incongruence of one's sex and gender identity.

Transbefrienders supports all transgender youth, with or without gender dysphoria. If you or your child is looking for support, head over to the link below to explore how we can help.
