Ally Training Facilitator

About Transbefrienders:

Transbefrienders is a charity in Singapore dedicated to supporting transgender and gender-diverse youths. We provide peer support, community outreach, and educational programs to help young adults build confidence and self-sufficiency.

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Ally Training Facilitator to conduct workshops on being an effective LGBTQ+ ally.

 

This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging workshops on LGBTQ+ allyship

• Create educational materials and resources for workshop participants

• Facilitate discussions on topics such as gender identity, sexual orientation, and intersectionality

• Guide on using inclusive language and challenging stereotypes

• Address common misconceptions about the LGBTQ+ community

• Offer practical strategies for being an active and supportive ally

• Adapt training content for various audiences (e.g., schools, workplaces, community groups)

• Evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and implement improvements

• Stay updated on current LGBTQ+ issues and best practices in allyship

 

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, particularly those affecting the transgender community in Singapore

• Experience in education, training, or facilitation (preferably in LGBTQ+ contexts)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment

• Patience and empathy when addressing sensitive topics

• Cultural competence and awareness of intersectionality

• Willingness to continue learning and growing as an ally and educator

Time Commitment:

Flexible schedule, ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week, depending on availability and organisational needs.
