About Transbefrienders:

Transbefrienders is a charity in Singapore dedicated to supporting transgender and gender-diverse youths. We provide peer support, community outreach, and educational programs to help young adults build confidence and self-sufficiency.

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking experienced Career Mentors to guide and support transgender and gender-diverse individuals in their professional development and career journeys. 

 

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one career guidance and mentorship to transgender and gender-diverse individuals

• Assist mentees in identifying their career interests, strengths, and goals

• Help mentees develop personalised career plans and strategies

• Offer advice on resume writing, job search techniques, and interview skills

• Guide mentees in building professional networks and exploring internship opportunities

• Provide insights into various industries and career paths

• Support mentees in navigating workplace challenges, particularly those related to gender identity

• Organise and conduct career development workshops or seminars

• Stay informed about LGBTQ+-inclusive workplace policies and practices

 

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience

• Strong understanding of the Singapore job market and various career paths

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience in mentoring or coaching (preferred)

• Knowledge of LGBTQ+ workplace issues and inclusive hiring practices

• Empathy and ability to build trust with mentees

• Cultural sensitivity and awareness of intersectionality

• Proficiency in using professional networking platforms and career development tools

Time Commitment:

Flexible schedule, ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week, depending on availability and organizational needs.
