Peer support services for transgender youths in Singapore



STUDY SUPPORT SCHEME



This scheme is for transgender and gender non-conforming students who are lacking support in schools. A safe space, free of prejudice and discrimination, is essential in a student's learning process. Therefore, we are offering a face-to-face mentorship programme for transgender and gender non-conforming students who are taking GCE N, O & A levels.

Nonetheless, all students are welcome to join because we don't discriminate!





Support scheme includes:

1. Textbooks and calculators on loan

2. Face to face mentorship with certified and experienced educators

3. Safe space for studying

4. Individualised learning plans for every student

5. 100% subsidised GCE exam fees

Our Student Fees


All students - S$50 nett per year.

Transgender students below 21 years old - S$30 nett per year.

Student R (2021) - A Level H1 General Paper, H2 Mathematics, H2 Chemistry





I find the mentors extremely kind and supportive. I enjoy their company and it helps me stay motivated. The teaching is extremely engaging, especially with the use of tech tools like Jamboard going beyond the limitations of remote lessons. I feel greatly supported, knowing that the mentors accept me for who I am, even if for now I'm still a ways from how I want to be. I feel more at ease being myself, and through being able to discuss these issues when they arise, I'm able to better accept myself too. I am eternally grateful to the mentors who have stood by me for this year.

I have been with TBF for 5 months now and all of the mentors have been nothing but welcoming and supportive from the start. As someone who is more of a slow learner, i appreciate that they are willing to teach at my pace and will always make sure to check if i fully understand before moving on to different topics. They always make sure that we have the resources we need for the lessons. The mentors definitely have always made we feel comfortable and i feel like if i were to have any problems, i am able to share it with them. I also really appreciate that they are always understanding and flexible in terms of schedule due to other commitments , they would also ensure that all the missed classes will be rescheduled to the soonest date available. All in all, my experience with TBF so far has been very good and smooth :)
